Your model portfolio website, on one link

Agencies and casting directors decide in seconds, usually on a phone. A model portfolio website has to answer three questions before the second scroll: what you look like today, what you have shot, and how to book you. This guide covers what belongs in it, how many photos to use, the mistakes that cost bookings — and how Mefolio puts it all on one page at mefolio.co/yourname.

Your model portfolio website, on one link

What a model portfolio website is — and isn't

It is a single page that shows your best photos, current digitals, measurements and how to reach you or your agency. It is not a design project: bookers do not care about animations or templates, they care about your face, your body and whether the information is current.

It is also different from Instagram (a feed mixed with your personal life), a PDF (hard to open on a phone, out of date the day you change your hair) or an old casting directory. One link that is always current does a different job.

What agencies check in the first seconds

  • The first photo: does it look like you on a good day?
  • Digitals: are they recent and unretouched?
  • Measurements: are they there, and do they match the photos?
  • Who represents you, or that you are available freelance
  • How to contact you — without hunting for it

What belongs in your portfolio

  • A headshot — neutral and smiling
  • A three-quarter and a full-length shot
  • A beauty close-up
  • Commercial images (clean, smiling, approachable) and, if it fits you, editorial images
  • Dated digitals in natural light
  • Measurements: height, bust or chest, waist, hips, shoe size, eyes and hair — switchable between cm and inches
  • City, availability and whether you travel
  • Your agency, or that you are not represented
  • A way to book you: contact form, email, WhatsApp or your agency
  • The photographer's credit on each photo

How many photos, and in what order

Eight to twelve strong photos beat forty average ones. Lead with the image that looks most like you on a good day, not the most styled one. Alternate close and full-length shots so the viewer sees both your face and your proportions, and end with something memorable. When in doubt, cut.

Mistakes that cost bookings

  • Heavy retouching that does not match you in person
  • Selfies, filters or blurry phone shots in place of digitals
  • Inflated or old measurements — agencies re-measure
  • Digitals that are months out of date
  • Links that expire, folders that need a download, or pages that are slow on a phone
  • Too many photos of the same look

Website, Instagram or PDF?

  • Instagram: good for personality and reach, but mixed with your personal life, with no measurements or digitals in a clear place
  • PDF: fine to attach once, but heavy, hard to read on a phone and outdated as soon as something changes
  • Portfolio website: one fast link with everything an agency needs, always current — and you can still link your Instagram from it

Starting with no experience

You do not need a professional book to start. Begin with good digitals and accurate measurements; many agencies sign new faces from those alone. Add photos from test shoots as you do them. Our step-by-step guide to making a modeling portfolio walks through it.

How Mefolio works

  • Photos straight from the shoot — when a photographer delivers through Mefolio, you stamp the frames you love and add them to your page with their credit
  • Selection links — a separate link with only the photos that fit one casting, with password and expiry if you want
  • Opened alerts — see when your page or a link was opened, and from which city
  • Comp card — a print-ready A5 card generated from your page, saved as PDF
  • Dated digitals in their own section, so agents know they are current
  • Reviews from agencies, clients and photographers, shown only after you approve them
  • Update once: every link you have already sent shows the new version

Private by default

Your page is seen by the people you send the link to. It appears on Google only if you switch that on in your profile. There are no advertising trackers on Mefolio and we do not sell personal data.

Questions

What is a model portfolio website?
A single web page with a model's best photos, recent digitals, measurements and contact details, so agencies and clients can decide quickly. On Mefolio it lives at mefolio.co/yourname.
How many photos should a model portfolio have?
Usually eight to twelve strong images plus a set of current digitals. Lead with the photo that looks most like you on a good day.
Do I need professional photos to start?
No. Agencies first look at clear, current digitals and accurate measurements. Professional photos can come later, often from test shoots.
Is a website better than Instagram for models?
They do different jobs. Instagram shows personality; a portfolio page gives agencies photos, digitals, measurements and contact in one clean place. Most models use both.
What measurements should a model list?
Height, bust or chest, waist, hips, shoe size, eye and hair colour — measured recently.
Can I send different photos to different castings?
Yes. On Mefolio, a selection link shows only the photos you choose for one job, with optional password and expiry.
Do I need an agency to use Mefolio?
No. Represented and freelance models both use it. If you have an agency, show it on your page and bookings can go straight to them.
Is Mefolio free?
Mefolio is free during launch. See the pricing page for the current plans.
